Welcome to the home of the historic Trail Smoke Eaters! As the only team to win two World Championship titles, the Smokies, as they are locally known, have significantly contributed to the remarkable sporting reputation of the City of Trail, British Columbia and indeed Canada. Learn about the growth of senior hockey in Trail, the development of two world-class teams and the value this community places on these tremendous achievements.

The Trail Historical Society has proudly created this website for fans of the legendary Trail Smoke Eaters. The legacy left by members of the former teams is a testament to the perseverance and dedication that resonates in the communities of Greater Trail and the Kootenays today.

The Trail Historical Society’s mission is to preserve local heritage, culture and tradition, which undeniably include sport. Recognizing that history thrives well outside the four walls of a museum, the Society endeavours to develop projects such as this, which increase access to our heritage. Your support is vital to its preservation. Please consider becoming a member, or consider a donation! And when in Trail, be sure to make the Sports Gallery in the Trail Museum & Archives at the Riverfront Centre a stop on your list! Thank you for visiting!
